On April 5, 2011, you will have an opportunity to elect two new trustees to the COD Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the college, and these two new individuals will be involved in important decisions facing the college over the next several years. Before voting, it is important that you understand the policies and positions of the various candidates, in order to vote for the ones that are most alligned with your views. A Board of Trustees Candidate Forum is scheduled for March 16, 2011 from 4 to 6 pm in room SRC 2800. See the attached flyer for more information. This is an ideal way to learn the views and visions for the college of the candidates seeking to be elected.
In this country, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to elect our leaders. Paralegal students are involved in the legal community, where our laws about government and voting rights originate, and should be particularly invested in matters of civic involvement. I encourage you to attend the candidate forum to learn about the candidates. Some instructors are offering extra credit for attending the forum. Check with your instructor to see if he or she is offering extra credit for this.
DON’T FORGET TO VOTE ON APRIL 5th!
