JOB ANNOUNCEMENT – Long-Term Care Ombudsman Position

LAF has a position open for a paralegal. Job duties include:

  • visits assigned long-term care facilities in the suburbs to educate residents
  • attends resident and family council meetings to advise on issues related to long-term care
  • organizes and develops family councils when necessary
  • develops and maintains productive relationships with long-term care staff
  • develops knowledge of relevant law and regulations
  • completes all training as required by the Illinois Department on Aging

In addition, the Paralegal performs intakes, engages in fact gathering and advocacy, and represents clients at hearings before the Illinois Department of Human Services, Nursing Home Division in cases involving the denial or termination of Medicaid eligibility for long-term care residents.
