Our students have the opportunity to observe Bond Court and talk to the presiding judge afterwards, thanks to the graciousness of our PLGL 1200 instructor, Judge Rob Douglas. On Sunday, December 6, Judge Douglas will be presiding over DuPage County Bond Court and is allowing students to observe the proceedings and then stay afterwards for a Q and A session.
Bond court starts at 8:00 AM and students need to be seated by 7:55 AM. The court is in the 501 Building of the DuPage County Judicial Facility in Wheaton. Students enter on the south side between the 501 and 503 Bldgs. A map of the DuPage County Government Center is below.
To attend, students should email Julianne DiBenedetto at email@example.com and RSVP. You must do so by 6 pm on Thursday, December 3, 2015. When you RSVP, you must provide your name, your email address, and indicate which paralegal class you are enrolled in. There is room for seven students to attend. You will be added to the list of attendees in the order in which you respond. A waiting list will be created in case more spaces open up due to last-minute cancellations.
Also, there may be some spaces available for Bond Court observation on Saturday morning, December 5. Primarily, the Saturday morning slot has been reserved for Judge Douglas’ PLGL 1200 students, but one or two spots may be available in the event there are cancellations. If you want to be considered for the Saturday morning Bond Court, should space become available, please RSVP to Julianne as indicated above and state your interest in attending Bond Court on Saturday morning, December 5.
On both December 5 and 6, Bond Court starts at 8 am and it lasts until all cases have been presented. Usually it is over by 9 or 10 am, but it may last longer depending on the number of cases to be heard.
