Interim Litigation Paralegal – Trial in Delaware

Major, Lindsey & Africa LogoMajor, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for an Interim Litigation Paralegal for one of its clients.  The paralegal will assist with preparation for a trial scheduled to start in January 2019.  Candidates must be able to travel domestically to attend the trial on January 8th.  This position is expected to run through mid-January.


  • Providing the highest level of litigation paralegal support to associates and partners;
  • Assisting with case management, strategy, and progression;
  • Utilizing various software applications to manage documents and facilitate the discovery process;
  • Cite-checking, Shepardizing, Bluebooking, and proofreading pleadings and briefs;
  • Pretrial activities including assessing needs for trial and witness books;
  • Organizing  trial exhibits;
  • Arranging witness attendance at trial;
  • Preparing charts/graphs to be used at trial;
  • Trial activities including attending and assisting at trial by monitoring documents and evidence;
  • Assuring presence of witnesses;
  • Preparing and monitoring visual aids;
  • Taking notes on testimony;
  • Tracking of exhibits introduced and marked into evidence; and
  • Digesting trial transcripts.


  • Minimum of five years litigation law firm experience;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and to work analytically, as well as independently and as a team;
  • Professional demeanor and superb organizational skills;
  • Ability to quickly and proactively identify and analyze problems, develop solutions and deliver results;
  • Available to work overtime regularly and as needed to meet demands of the position;
  • Positive attitude and a team player; and
  • Ability to travel for trial in January 2019.

COD’s Paralegal Studies Program now has an alumni website!  Please take a look!  Here’s the link:
Melissa Ehret, organizer of the fabulous twice-a-year alumni parties we all look forward to, and Todd Holes, will be website administrators.  We hope you will step forward to help, too.  They both welcome whatever help you can give.
The site is meant to serve as a networking tool, and as a way to keep our alumni connected.  It will include a job board, job-hunting tips, a section on milestones, links to resources, a water cooler forum, etc.  It is our hope that you will actively participate in posting on the new website.  It has great potential, but we need your help!
We’d like to keep the “Milestones” section up to date.  Let us know your happy news, and include a picture. We want to hear about weddings, new babies or grandbabies, fabulous experiences you had, promotions, etc.
When you hear of a job opening, let us know!  We’d like this site to provide solid leads for other COD alumni.  Let’s keep those jobs “in the family” whenever we can!  Don’t worry about whether those leads are for local firms, or out-of-state ones. Let us know about every job opening you hear about. We have alumni living in other states, and alumni looking to relocate to other states.  The goal is to keep all our alumni connected, wherever they live, and whatever they are currently doing.

Position: LRS Interviewer / Professional Fees Committee Staff Representative

Reports to: Lawyer Referral Service Director

Position Summary: Screen calls from the public and provide referrals to private counsel and other legal resources as appropriate. Assist with data entry, filing and other tasks associated with the referral process and service. Serve as Staff Assistant and liaison to the Professional Fees Committee. Maintain and process fee complaints and schedule and attend both fee dispute hearings/arbitrations and regular Committee meetings.
